EDM producer Marshmello has pulled off one of the most unlikely collaborations of the year, recruiting iconic musician Sting and pop powerhouse Pink for his new single “Dreaming.”
Released on October 20, 2023, the track seamlessly melds Sting’s 1993 classic “Fields of Gold” with Pink’s smooth vocals and Marshmello’s signature danceable beats, co-produced with Digital Farm Animals.
As Pink put it, having the three join creative forces was “beautifully random.” It was Marshmello’s idea to bring the two legends together for the song. He described the end result as “the most unexpected collaboration any of us ever thought, or maybe the world might think.”
In a behind-the-scenes clip, a helmet-clad Marshmello can be seen vibing out with Sting and Pink in the studio, proving his passion for the music transcends his masked persona.
Sting is no stranger to unexpected duets. He partnered with Jamaican musician Shaggy on the 2018 album “44/876” and rapper Pato Banton on a remix of his 1995 track “This Cowboy Song.”
But “Dreaming” takes Sting into entirely new sonic territory, merging his golden vocals with the modern sheen of electronic dance music. It exemplifies his talent for timeless reinvention.
From the moment it graced the airwaves, “Dreaming” has captivated audiences and garnered an outpouring of acclaim, thanks to its boundary-pushing originality that effortlessly transcends genres. In a truly harmonious collaboration, Marshmello once again showcases his uncanny ability to curate dynamic musical partnerships. With its undeniable allure and captivating sound, the single emerges as a true force to be reckoned with, defying all expectations and positioning itself as a frontrunner in the race for chart domination in 2023.
